Media Activism Club

During her time at Bronx Science High School, Columbia Spectator and Bwog journalist Sara Vogel created the Media Activism Club. She and her associates staged demonstrations, engaged in guerrilla theater, and made short videos. A project entirely by high school students, this club demonstrates the possibility of creating successful liberal organizations that engage the grassroots and take advantage of the activist potential of the new media in places other than large universities. Creative leadership and innovative thinking, not extant political power, are the necessary ingredients of a powerful progressive movement.
