Although the Dems Constitution ultimately brings everything to a vote, it is also constitutionally required of the activist council to first attempt to come to a consensus decision before a vote is allowed. Further, it is a good idea for the Executive Board to attempt consensus before bringing things to a vote.

When and why is consensus a good organizing strategy? It is certainly a helpful strategy for making sure that the various schools of liberalism within the organization don't feel marginalized if they are easily outvoted, making this a good solution for the problem that liberals disagree.
